Thats right 5 pounds of joe, a lovely earthy, smoky and subtle spicy Yemeni Dark Roast thats on peer with top dark roasts. Finely balanced and quite a boost when enjoyed hot or cold. No more starbucks for me! Get some!
The reserve I purchased was quite good. It still hasnt hit its prime yet as it is only 19 days post roast. Anda remembered that I like to know the roast date from over a year ago and included a hand written note letting me know the coffee was roasted on 3/10/2021. PSA Would like to see the Yemeni farmers get a bigger chunk of the profits though. You are selling the reserve for about 45/lb and I recall reading that you were paying the farmers 12/lb.
Hi Jan, Thanks for the very good question. I'd like to get the economics better but that's a long-term focus. Right now the focus is on getting the details and business model right and then expanding for economies of scale. Keep an eye on the monthly emails as I explore this topic and others. I'm a horrible coffee snob. And seasonally, I shift from hot brew to cold brew. The Al Mokha medium is "darned good" hot brewed in a french press. But cold brewed in a long duration brew, all kinds of floral notes come out that aren't generally as strong in the hot brew. Cold brewing it changes it from "very good coffee" to "knock your socks off" good coffee, with an unreal amount of caffeine released, and no bitterness.
We love receiving our coffee and a heartfelt, personal note from Anda with EVERY order. Makes us feel like we're really appreciated as customers. (We'd buy the coffee anyway, because it's so delicious, but don't tell Anda that) :)
The overall "experience?" The experience of ordering, receiving, all that? It was fine, but it's the coffee itself that has to be the focus. And here it is every morning for us now: the Yemeni Reserve - bright flavor, medium roast, delightful acidic edge. How we wake up! We'll need more soon...
